So here are my top status updates of the year:

- when I get a car, I need to make sure that my ride has a sunroof, so that my wizard hat doesn't get all bent out of shape when I'm driving. (1:18am July 29th, 2010)**
- Jim P. just put cat aids in my alcoholic peach ice cream made with liquid nitrogen. It's okay, he got it from an adorable cat. (2:55am August 28th, 2010)
- Friday flashback: $50 champagne and a Slim Jim... now that's klassy with a k. (4:08pm August 29th, 2010)
- ... so then I yell to the guy, "we love you, man!" And then he threw up everywhere. (1:51am November 17th, 2010)

I think a good approach to summarizing the past few months will be to take a status update and explain the story behind it. Now that I have applications out of the way (er, most of them), this week will be relatively free for me.... (Seriously, there is a FANTASTIC story behind my Nov 17th update. I was dreaming about being lost in the suburbs of Georgia on a really dark, rainy, sketch night. I was driving and got really really lost to the point I wanted to cry.

but then I woke up when I realized my room was shaking

This is technically my third one, but my first legit one. like, earthquake-earthquake. Like OH SHIT EARTHQUAKE-earthquake.



Also, it is EXTREMELY difficult to wake me up in the morning. I am usually a very heavy sleeper. What does it take to wake me up, then? An earthquake, apparently.

So I dreamed that I was in San Francisco for my conference, right? I was in the main room setting up my poster. Suddenly, across the way, I see this one professor who I've really been wanting to meet. Before he comes over, however, the conference organizers jump in the room and say, "OKAY GUYS! IT'S TIME FOR THE RACE!"

So I was dragged over to this race, right? And you know that one sport where the guys have to run across the logs floating the water and they're spinning and whatnot? I had to do that.

But instead of logs, there were stacks of solo cups.

WHAT DOES THIS MEAN

So, it's pretty obvious that fast food places advertise the whole "open during the super late hours" thing a lot, and that in those ads they target the stoner crowds. I always thought it was relatively subtle (as in, the people who don't have stoner friends might not catch it). Now, Denny's has really done it.



It's not the fact that they just came back from a concert, or that there's a t-rex sitting with a leprechaun and a unicorn... It's not even that the unicorn sounds totally blazed with his "duuuude" speech pattern or his squinty eyes or the multiple cigarettes?/joints? falling out of his mouth.

It's the dreadlocks.

Hey Denny's, could you make it anymore obvious that this is a "stoner commercial"?
